We had a 145 mile drive to our next place near St Ives for the next two nights. Clean, roomy and much more modern than others in England. The closer we got to St Ives the heavier the rains became. Heavy and steady rain for several hours. Since I'd already ordered our tickets for an outdoor performance that evening at Minack Theater, it wasn't looking very hopeful. But as we've learned... the weather will change, just be patient. And, the rain stopped, clouds cleared and the late afternoon was beautiful once again. We took a short little train ride into St Ives for something to eat and a quick look then back home to dress warmly for our outdoor concert.
I thought we'd left plenty of time to get to the theater, perched on the top of a southern rocky cliff. We were there an hour before the concert, but the other guests had been there even earlier and enjoyed a wonderful home cooked meal. So tasty...it was all gone by the time we got there.
Then the gates opened and with open seating tickets, everyone made their way down the cliff side to the stone theater. But the views....worth every penny!
The theater is at Porthcurno, 4 miles from Land's End in Cornwall. It's listed as one of the world's most spectacular theaters. It is truly amazing, views of the coast and rocky surf while we listened to a Simon and Garfunkle Tribute Duo.
And there's Paul, bundled up trying to stay warm as the sun moved off and into a sunset.

and sunset...a perfect way to spend a Friday night in Cornwall. Driving down the dark, narrow roads on our return was a bit scary!
Saturday morning didn't disappoint...beautiful warm skies again. Our day wandering around the little coastal village of St Ives was great fun.
extremely low tide had upended the boats in the harbor.
Coffee time with a view
always the blue and white stripe of Cornwall everywhere.
We walked up the hill to another expansive view about the village, weather was changing again and temps getting chilly.
So, with sprinkles falling, we headed to The Tate Museum, St Ives, for some wonderful Picasso paintings. Museums are always perfect for rainy days.
