Our next morning we woke to bright sunny skies, windy but so beautiful! We got on the road early and stopped first at Thomas Hardy's St Juliot Church just a mile from out cottage. Serene, no one else around.

After a visit to the church we drove on to the Padstow Farm Shop for a morning tea, and purchase of my Cornwall Pottery mugs. Realizing there wasn't enough parking a the Padstow Harbour we drove out the headland, under the protection of the National Trust once again.
We walked the coast path which overlooked the Padstow Lifeboat Station Rescue boat and shelter. the new boathouse is located at Trevose Head and has a 240' slipway which allows the rescue boat to enter the water directly when needed.
This whole area resembles rocky cliffs of Big Sur and northern California.

yes, mighty windy at the lighthouse.
Further down our Coast Road was another National Trust home, Trerice, near Newquay, Cornwall.
An Elizabethan manor house which inspired Winston Graham to invent the Poldark Estate of Trenwith! The home is quiet, unchanged and hidden, but so beautiful to visit. As with so many of the NT properties, the lovely gardens and lawns even had a bowling Green for guests to enjoy.
We decided to try a back road home and our timing was perfect for a sunset at The Port William Pub. It doesn't get much better than sitting outside with a view as this.
This is how we always order at a Pub, choose you table and remember the number, order at the bar and drinks will be bought out.
Hard to believe we weren't in California with sunsets so beautiful!
