Arriving in Jacksonville we had an overnight hotel near the airport then an Uber to the RV park to get the RV up and running again and head north to Georgia. We arrived at Crooked River SP by 11:30, found a good pull thru site and then started unpacking. Lots of work but done by 3:30.
Such a beautiful sunny drive warm, 80’
Walked along river after the heavy rains in the afternoon. Our next night was at Santee SP in Santee, South Carolina, then on to Raleigh Oaks RV Resort outside of Raleigh NC.
We had reservations for ten nights, I was there the first two nights before flying to San Luis Obispo for a week with friends. Poor PK, this was his first summer without Foster to keep him company while I was gone. Pretty hard, but being who he is, he figured out a good way to stay cool. He spent most days at the Apple Store where he could take classes and learn more about his devices, stay cool and enjoy being around people. Perfect!
with a stop at Malene Wines and the Airstream tasting room.
7 Sisters Brewing Company with Laurie J.
Then the gathering of the Summer Sisters at Avila for 4 days. Our 20th year together celebrating friendships with lots of laughter and great food. and maybe a tiny bit of tequila.
Jill at the BBQ
Gini's hand written rocks for each of us
celebrating Gini's Retirement
and beach walks at Avila
12 strong and caring women, I wouldn't miss this fun for anything!
Oh, so good to be back at the beach with two nights at Gamble Rogers SP. I love it there, and lucky for us they had last minute cancellation on the oceanside campground. WooHoo! Morning and evening beach walks.
Just south we moved to Tomoka SP, our first ever stay there. It was true Florida landscape but I already missed the ocean.
The park had a lovely overlook along the river and near the Campground store, fun to watch the wildlife.
But, nothing beats sitting at our own campsite...
By Thursday we were packed up early for a longer day's drive to Clearwater RV park near Emily in Safety Harbor. All had been doing well until we drove into a heavy rainstorm near Tampa when suddenly the RV just stopped running! Evidently the mist had made the intake air filter so wet that the engine couldn't breath, meaning we pulled over to the side of the freeway and called AAA for help. By the time the tow truck got to us, the filter had dried out enough that the engine started. YES!!! But our road assistance driver still followed us all the way to the RV park just to be sure we didn't have any more troubles.
Then weekend time with Emily and Steve.
And Sunday Jason, Missy and Alex came over for brunch. So great to see them.
Then time to store the RV once again and return to housesitting, this time in Lenningen, Luxembourg.
