CHISTMAS DEC 25- 31, 2017

Having lived our entire lives in California, I always loved "I'm dreaming of a white Christmas"... and that's just what we got when we arrived in Denver late Christmas Eve. A light snow had fallen earlier in the day, so our bus ride from Denver airport to Boulder sparkled with the reflection of twinkling lights on the bright white ground. Due to a late arrival and slow recovery of our bags we caught the 10:20 bus, the next to the last bus for the evening.  But there was Kurt, waiting at our stop to shuttle us to our warm condo and a good night's rest. Nothing prettier than soft snow and the quiet it brings to the city.

And, Christmas morning with the view out to the backyard of our condo with fresh snow falling most of the day.

We brought traditional straw flower wreathes from Mexico to share with everyone, even Joey donned one.

Always fun to see our three nieces, Niece Mia and Joey who also live in Boulder
Neevie flew in from San Francisco and Ali from Minneapolis.

While Kurt and Laura were working hard on a fantastic dinner, the girls and Joey were busy  writing and presenting a fun play for our afternoon entertainment; costumes and all... SO much fun!

After a fun Christmas, our three days in Boulder were filled with chilly walks, lots of good food and time to just relax and enjoy time with family celebrating Neevie's 25th birthday and Kurt and Laura's 30th Anniversary.
Thursday morning we were back at the Boulder Transit Center for our sleepy 4AM bus ride to the airport and flight to Phoenix,  finally returning to our RV after two months of travels.

And here's what Phoenix looked like in late December, absolutely gorgeous!

It took us most of the day to get the RV back into "home" mode and all set up at Usery Mountain Regional Park. We spent the rest of the afternoon celebrating Christmas and visiting Paul's sister, MarLyn and Randy, our nephew David, Ruthie and their three sweet children.

The next day Ruthie brought Logan, Noah and MacKenzie out for the afternoon.  Such darling children. A walk to the Nature Center and some raking gravel finished off our afternoon.

Lucky for us, our niece Rachele and her husband James now live in the Phoenix area. We loved having them come out to the park for an afternoon visit and time to catch up, especially hearing about their new business enterprise in Tucson, an electric bike company, Pedego Bikes. But like always, the time went by too quickly!

Sunset New Year's Eve 2017, so beautiful and amazingly quiet considering we were probably only a couple of miles north of the huge metropolis of Phoenix!

And we actually stayed up to welcome in 2018 with fireworks from the city!
HAPPY NEW YEAR and cheers to all the new and exciting things that lay ahead.
