LESPARE, FRANCE & PETER APRIL 1-5, 2018

April 1st...Easter Sunday, April Fool's Day and our day to fly from Amsterdam to Bordeaux, France for a 4 day visit with my brothers Peter and Richard. Arriving right on time but taking a while to get our bags, Peter was there waiting for us and gave us a beautiful vineyard drive on tiny roads back to his home, LesPare, Bourran, France. Meanwhile, Richard had been working on a wonderful Easter Sunday dinner with this fun centerpiece. Evidently, dyeing eggs in France is not an easy thing to do when needing certain supplies. But, it turned out perfectly, I thought.

Arriving this time there was such a transformation of the grounds of the chateau! Where once had been gravelly open space there was now a carpet of such beautiful green grass. What an amazing difference that made! I took a ton of photos from every which way and hope I captured the feel of this amazing property.
In the background is the once-upon-a-time pigsty, now turned into a small greenhouse and storage for garden supplies

Standing from the lower part of the property this is the formal view of the main house.
Off to the left is the Allee, several rooms once used for staff at this country home. Now, more rooms to store all their building supplies and architectural pieces they've gathered.
The back side of the building
This back view is of the barn and vinegary, also now planted in grass.

One of the 100+ windows they first installed years ago when beginning this adventure.
This little room is nicknamed The Chapel; love these windows!
This will eventually become the main entrance to the house
For now, we use the white double doors on the left.

And always lots of petunias or geraniums around the yard and window boxes.

After a day and a half of visiting and just catching up on our lives, Richard took us to the Tuesday farmer's market in Anguillion. Such fun to see the locals all picking out fresh veggies, small plants, or having lunch made fresh there at the market itself. Here's Richard trying to decide on a plant or two to take home to the garden.

Back home we ate, talked and just sat in this lovely, sunny part of southern France.  Here's the view of the neighbor's fields...so much open space and just a 10 minute walk to the River Lot.

Photos in the garden before we left on Thursday morning.

 Till next time...

A wonderful couple of days together.
