Our travels up the length of California was so exciting for us this year because we were getting to spend time with nieces and nephews we hadn't seen in far tooooo long! So our next stop on this N&N ADVENTURE was to stop in Simi Valley for a couple of days and have time with Skyler. What fun to see him and his darling wife, Monique, in their new home in Simi, CA. We had a wonderful evening our first night at a small Italian Restaurant; great food and a chance to catch up on their lives. Then we had them over for a dinner at our house one night! So fun to see how happy they are, we loved our visit.
Simi is also home to the Ronal Reagan Presidential Library so we spent a full afternoon visiting the exhibits there that even included a walk through the Air Force One used by the Reagans.
In addition to the presidential archives, memorabilia and photos of the Reagan years, the Museum also had a temporary exhibit about Abraham Lincoln. It was amazing! It was a display of items and sets from the movie, Lincoln.

We have never really spent any time in the LA area exploring as we usually do in other cities so with the RV parked in the pretty (though tight) Simi Elks RV Parkwe stayed several more days and ventured out to see more of the LA sights.
Our first stop was a full day at The Getty Museum and Gardens.
Another day we drove east to Arcadia to visit the beautiful LA Arboretum. What a fantastic day that was! I'm always the happiest when we're walking gardens like these.
This is the home of Lucky Baldwin who donated this beautiful property to the city of LA.
We also finally got to spend time at the Norton Simon Art museum in Pasadena. That fulfills a life time dream of mine. I would see it each year during the Rose Parade, it marks the beginning of the parade, and I'd think...this year I'm going to see that museum. But here I am countless Rose Parades later and just getting to visit it! Incredible museum with Rodin sculptures and amazing art. We only saw the west wing of the museum so there's a whole other side to visit next time we're there.
After our 4 nights in the Simi area and great visits with Sky and Monique it was time to move to our annual stay along the Rincon in Ventura. We thought by getting there Friday morning about 9 AM we'd be able to get one of the first come campsites along the beach but...oh, no...it was the beginning of Father's Day weekend and there were NO sites available, out of maybe 100! We decided to move the RV down the road a ways to a day parking area along the beach where we could enjoy the day and the sounds of the surf and stay until 9 that night. But we still didn't have campsite for the evening. But, our great Elk's never let us down... I called the Ventura Elks Lodge and though they don't have a designated RV camping area they welcomed us to come park in their lot for the evening.
It was perfect! Safe, quiet and off the main street, just what we needed. We got up super early that next morning, returned to the Rincon and luckily found this beautiful site along the beach.
And with a campfire and sunset right along the beach, we really felt that we were truly home again. Love that feeling!
