Surrounded by beautiful red rocks and mountains we settled in for 3 nights to enjoy this beautiful park. We never met up with Patty's dad, but maybe next time, as this is definitely a park we'll return to another time.
We took a partial hook up site for the first 2 nights, #14, really tight, tiny spot but we had the perfect one of them all on the end with a beautiful view out the back. We also met some wonderful people next door, Jim and Sonia from Hawaii.
While at the park we walked trails and just sat looking at the scenery: petrified sand dunes, lava rock walls, and even snow capped mountains in the distance.
It's funny that we can often get cell power for phone calls at the top of hikes, and I needed to talk to my brother, Charlie, about Mom's taxes so here's where we chatted...then Paul made a few calls
For our 3rd night we moved to a beautiful non hook up tent site that we could fit in. Amazing site # 21!!! Right up against the red wall with this lovely secluded spot to camp.
We didn't quite blend in to our surroundings, but we did love our spot.
We did go to a Starbucks about 15 min away to get some Internet stuff done, but didn't have much desire to do anything but stay in the park. I had plenty of time to read...my current book is the bio of Catherine the Great.
Thursday morning we were on the road to Las Vegas. The last night while we were in at Snow Canyon we met a couple who have moved to the nearby little town of Ivin northwest of St. George. As we were talking to them they suggested we avoid returning through St. George but take Old Highway 91 instead, save 30 miles and enjoy a pretty and less traveled route to Las Vegas. So we did! The road comes out her Littlefield on interstate 15, easy and such a nice change!
So here's our next month's plan...since we really are nomads without a permanent home, we are changing our residency to the state of South Dakota, to enjoy the benefits of a lower tax base and fees. We'll fly to SD then back to Vegas and pack up heading to Oceanside to see the newer 1998 Motorhome we bought and start renovating it.
NOTE: We have made the trip to SD and are now here in Oceanside...I'll catch up on all those details in my next post.
Ah, one never knows which way life will go! But we're sure loving the adventure!

This is one of the most interesting places I have ever visited. My friend and I really loved it.
